Installation

Requirements

Before installing, confirm the host meets these minimums:

  • WordPress 6.4 or newer
  • PHP 8.1 or newer
  • Pretty permalinks enabled (Loveshack registers several custom routes)

Install the theme

  1. Upload the loveshack folder to /wp-content/themes/.
  2. Go to Appearance → Themes and activate Loveshack.
  1. Place the loveshack folder in web/app/themes/.
  2. Activate it with WP-CLI from the project root:

    wp theme activate loveshack

Loveshack loads its modules through loveshack_require_theme_file(), so a child theme can override any file in inc/ by placing a file at the same relative path. Activate the child theme instead of the parent once both are installed.

Flush the rewrite rules

Loveshack registers stream archives and several root-level routes. WordPress only picks them up after the rewrite rules are rebuilt.

Visit Settings → Permalinks and click Save Changes once. Nothing needs to be changed on that screen — saving is what triggers the flush.

This registers:

  • Stream archives for status, image, and video posts
  • /settings/ — the subscriber settings screen
  • /subscribe/ — the subscription screen
  • /subscriber-feed/{token}/ — personalized private RSS feeds

Skipping this step produces 404s

If /settings/ or a stream archive returns a 404 after installation, the rewrite rules were never flushed. Save the permalinks screen again.
