Social media links¶
Social links are managed under Loveshack → Social Media Links. The list is ordered, extensible, and shared by the site header, the footer, and the Stream header block.
The list¶
Each row is one icon in the social row:
| Field | What it does |
|---|---|
| Enabled | Whether the link renders. Disabled rows keep their settings but disappear from the site |
| Type | Picks the network, which supplies the default icon and the link relationship |
| Label | The accessible name and tooltip. Leave empty to use the type's name |
| Link | The destination URL |
| Icon | An uploaded image that replaces the type's bundled icon |
Drag the handle at the left of a row to reorder. The order in this list is the order the icons appear on the site.
Types¶
Fourteen networks ship with an icon: Mastodon, ActivityPub, Bluesky, GitHub, X / Twitter, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, LinkedIn, Pixelfed, Threads, Discord, Steam, and RSS.
Choose Custom for anything else. A custom row has no bundled icon, so give it a label and upload an icon — without an icon it will not render.
Icons¶
Leave the icon empty and the row uses the icon that comes with its type. Upload one to override it.
Both SVG and raster images are accepted. SVG matches the bundled set and stays sharp at any size; Loveshack enables SVG uploads for administrators and sanitises them on upload.
Match the bundled icons
The bundled icons are single-colour glyphs on a transparent background, sized to a square. A full-colour logo with its own background will stand out against them — and not flatteringly.
Removing an uploaded icon is the Use default link, which appears next to the preview once an icon is set. If an uploaded icon is later deleted from the media library, the row silently falls back to its type's icon rather than rendering a broken image.
Built-in rows¶
Two rows are provided by the site rather than being external profiles, and cannot be deleted:
| Row | Behaviour |
|---|---|
| RSS Feed | Always present. With an empty link it uses the site's main posts feed |
| ActivityPub | Present only while the ActivityPub plugin can supply an actor. With an empty link it uses the selected actor |
Both can be disabled with their Enabled checkbox — they just cannot be removed from the list. Setting an explicit link on either overrides the automatic destination.
When more than one ActivityPub actor is available, an ActivityPub actor selector appears below the list to choose which one the automatic link uses.
The RSS row for signed-in subscribers¶
In the site header, the RSS icon points signed-in subscribers at their own private feed instead of the public one, and relabels itself accordingly. This happens automatically wherever personal feeds are available — see Private feeds.
The footer always shows the public feed.
Colours¶
Icon colours are still Customizer settings, under Appearance → Customize → Social Links — see Header and social links.
Upgrading from the Customizer¶
Before 1.1.10 these were fourteen fixed URL fields in the Customizer. On first load, Loveshack builds the new list from those settings, keeping every configured link in the order the old fields were displayed, and carrying the old automatic RSS and ActivityPub toggles across as the enabled state of those rows.
Nothing needs to be re-entered. The old Customizer fields are gone once the migration has run.
