Webmentions¶
Loveshack uses IndieWeb-oriented markup — microformats2 — so other sites can parse its posts, and so replies sent from elsewhere can be attributed correctly.
Microformats¶
The theme's templates carry microformats2 markup on posts, authors, and content. This is what allows a remote site receiving a webmention from your post to display your name, avatar, and the reply text properly, rather than a bare URL.
Because it is markup rather than a feature, it works without any plugin. Child themes that replace template parts should preserve the microformats classes.
Enabling webmentions¶
Install the Webmention plugin. Once active:
- Replies and mentions from other IndieWeb sites arrive as comments
- Your own posts send webmentions to the sites they link to
Pair it with WebFinger and IndieAuth for the full IndieWeb setup.
Comment display¶
Received webmentions render through the theme's comment templates alongside native comments. Loveshack's comment guard module filters what reaches the comment form.
Pingbacks and trackbacks¶
All Loveshack stream post types support trackbacks, and the theme includes pingback handling. In practice, webmentions have largely replaced both — most sites leave pingbacks off because the spam ratio is poor.
