Frequently asked questions

Does this theme require plugins?

No. Core publishing, subscriber settings, private feeds, digests, gated content, and the Stripe integration all live in the theme.

ActivityPub, Webmention, IndieAuth, FluentSMTP, and ALTCHA are optional but recommended depending on what the site needs — see ActivityPub, Email delivery, and Registration and login for the ALTCHA spam-protection integration.

Do I need server cron?

For production, yes. WordPress can schedule the digest event itself, but a real cron job should trigger due WP-Cron events reliably on self-hosted sites. See Cron.

Are gated posts exposed in public RSS feeds?

No. Public RSS feeds exclude posts with a required subscription tier. Logged-in subscribers get a private tokenized RSS feed containing only the posts their current tier can access. See Gated content.

What happens if there are no new posts?

No digest email is sent. The subscriber's lss_digest_last_sent_gmt value is only updated after a successful send, so the window stays open and nothing is skipped.

Which order do digest emails use?

Newest first.

Does Stripe access update automatically?

Yes, when Stripe keys and webhooks are configured. Checkout sessions and subscription lifecycle events update user subscription metadata through Stripe webhook processing. See Tiers and Stripe.

Is this theme translation-ready?

Yes. The text domain is loveshack.

Can I use a child theme?

Yes, and it is the supported way to customize. Loveshack loads its modules through loveshack_require_theme_file(), so a child theme can override any file in inc/ by placing a file at the same relative path. See Hooks and filters.

Why is Inter loaded from Google Fonts?

Inter is the default body font and is not bundled in the theme package. It is fetched from Google Fonts only while the Customizer body font setting is left at the theme default — choosing any other font removes the external request.

Can subscribers read gated posts in a feed reader?

Yes. That is what the personal /subscriber-feed/{token}/ URL is for. Treat the URL as a credential. See Private feeds.

Where do I report a problem?

Start with Troubleshooting, which covers the common failure modes and their causes.
