Long-form posts¶
Standard WordPress posts work exactly as they do in any theme, and they appear in the activity stream next to statuses, images, and videos. Nothing needs to be enabled to use them.
When to use a post instead of a status¶
| Use a post when | Use a status when |
|---|---|
| The piece has a title worth reading on its own | The text is the whole thing |
| It should be gated behind a subscription tier | It is a short public note |
| It belongs in a digest email as a headline item | It is conversational |
| It needs a featured image treated as a header | The image is the post — use an image post |
Both appear in the stream; the difference is how the card renders and how much structure the item carries.
Single post template¶
Long-form posts render through single.php, with the stream types using their own
templates (single-cp_status.php, single-cp_image.php, single-cp_video.php).
The single-post panel has its own appearance settings — background, blur, and
color overrides — documented under
Stream layout.
Excerpts¶
Loveshack generates its own excerpts for stream cards when a post has no manual excerpt. Setting an explicit excerpt gives you control over what appears in both the stream card and the digest email.
Comments¶
Comments are supported on posts and on all three stream types. Loveshack ships a comment guard module that filters what reaches the comment form; combined with the Webmention plugin, mentions from other sites appear alongside native comments. See Webmentions.
Gating¶
Any post can require a subscription tier. Gated posts are excluded from public RSS feeds and appear only in the private feeds of subscribers whose tier grants access. See Gated content.
